our room was large n comfy with a huge bed, and we loved the quirky medieval look of the hotel. breakfast was amazin with a big choice and the staff were friendly. the location is great, just a short walk to all the good spots, like the cathedral. we appreciated the free parking and the vibe of the bar was really nice for a chill evening.
but the room was super hot with just a sliding window to cool it down, n also we did hear a lot of noise from outside. the shower could have been better, a bit weak at times.

Had a lovely time enjoying the cozy bar and tucking into the delicious breakfast every morning! The garden was a perfect spot to unwind, and there was a nice lounge to kick back in too. Just a small issue with the kettle not working, but they quickly sorted it out for me, so no biggie! 😊

Spacious room with a great shower, but traffic noise was a bit distracting.

Had a fantastic time with my friends! The location was perfect, just a short walk to the cathedral and some great local restaurants. The breakfast was tasty, and the staff were super welcoming. Just a heads up, the stairs are steep, so be prepared for that!
One thing to consider is that the floors are quite creaky and uneven, which made it a bit challenging for some of us to get a good night's sleep.

I appreciated the charming Tudor-style decor throughout, which added a delightful historical ambiance. The accessible layout made it easy for me to navigate, while the lovely garden provided a peaceful spot to relax after exploring St Albans.
Better signage for lift access would be beneficial.

Charming, Charming, Charming
A stunning Tudor building with so much character! My Superior Double Room was spacious and had a luxurious bath for the perfect soak. Plus, the location couldn't be better—just steps away from a vibrant market and the beautiful cathedral!
Can recommend ❤️😊

The room was quirky with sloping floors and narrow doors, which made it feel a bit cramped. We had a comfy bed, though, and a brilliant bath with lots of hot water. But the carpet was worn out, and there were some maintenance issues like hanging curtains and issues with the bath tap. Not a fan of the low ceiling. my husband knocked his head a couple of times. it had character but definitely felt tired and could use some TLC.

excellent base for city strolls and nearby parks
We absolutely loved our stay at this charming hotel, which was perfectly positioned just across from the stunning cathedral and only a few steps from a variety of restaurants like Zizzi and Bill's, making it ideal for leisurely weekend walks. the history of the building added such a unique touch, and we particularly enjoyed the delicious breakfast options each morning, especially the generous Full English. a small draft from the window reminded us of its charm as a historic building, but overall, our experience was excellent for exploring St Albans as a solo traveler.

Great for a quick stay
Had a decent time here. The bar vibe was super cool and fun for our group. Staff were friendly, especially that one young lady who helped us with parking! Rooms were cozy but pretty cramped. Wish I hadn’t had to drag my bags from that expensive parking lot down the road. Breakfast could use some love.
